INTRODUCTION

1- Fast setting

Regardless of how the anchor falls onto the seabed as soon as tension is put on the rode, the SWORD will quickly reposition itself for optimum penetration. In this position, the anchor blade adopts an angle resembling that of a wood chisel (patented)- perfect for penetrating difficult sea beds.

Thanks to the radical relocation of the shank fixing (patented), around 25% of the anchors total weight is positioned directly over the tip.

The two small "sand guides" on the upper part of the fluke increase the speed of penetration even more (Patented).

Thanks to the right angle of attack and high pressure at the tip, the SWORD anchor doesn’t have any difficulty penetrating sea bottoms, even potentially difficult ones such as hard sand, coral or weed.

2- Adjustable pulling angle

Not all sea bottoms have the same characteristics, but generally they are either sand or mud. It would be sensible to have the option of adjusting the pulling angle depending various sea beds encountered.

This modification must be very easy to perform, without any specific tools or fastidious dismantling either of the anchor or the mooring line.

On the SWORD anchor, this adjustment is made by simply leading the chain through a "bow" shackle attached to the second hole in the shank - this changes the pulling angle (Patented).

The SWORD’s new pulling angle is now better adapted to anchoring in mud.

3- Exceptional holding

For the safety of your boat and your crew, your anchor should never break out, regardless of the weather conditions. Some unstable anchors, give a false sense of security. They dig in and seem to hold, even during a pull back with the engine… but in bad weather they can break out without any warning at the worst possible time.

Only a STABLE anchor will give a real anchoring security.

The SWORD anchor, like the SPADE, is a stable anchor.

The shape of the fluke is spoon-like (Patented) and as all tests have demonstrated (*), the penetrating ability, and subsequent holding of a concave fluke is 40 to 50% higher than other shapes.

But furthermore! thanks to the optimisation of the surface area/weight ratio (Patented), the SWORD anchor has twice to three times the holding power of conventional anchors. The SWORD anchor is a very secure anchor, which will hold regardless of the weather conditions…

4- Adapts to fit most bow rollers

5- Specific shape of the shank

Another area that often poses problems, the Genoa-furling drum. If it is close to the deck, the anchor’s shank when retrieved may damage or interfere with the drum.

This often necessitates pushing the chain with one’s foot to help the shank pass under the furling drum. This problem will occur more often with an anchor featuring a long straight shank.

The shank of the SWORD has been designed, with this point in mind !

Thanks to its constantly curving shank profile, the SWORD will "round" the sheave of the bow roller and position itself as low as possible without interfering with the furling drum.

The SWORD anchor during retrieval onto the bow roller

Most asymmetrical anchors (Plough (plow) anchors), due to their design, often have the tendency to lift up onto the bow roller in an inverted position ! thanks to the specific shape of its shank (Patented), the SWORD anchor cannot be lifted in an inverted position! it will always right itself before arriving at the bow roller..

All these characteristics combine to make the SWORD anchor a very UNIQUE anchor…
